LEATHER WE USE
ROSE, BLUE, PINK, MINT, LEMON & LAVENDER COLLECTION.
► WAX WILL MELT.
Using a unique kind of veg-tanned leather with a white-ish wax layer finish. The wax layer will wear and patina over time, exposing more and more of the beautiful color beneath. You may notice some small marks and scratches in the white coatings, and they will fade over time with use.
The original color of the leather will gradually reveal and acquire a bright sheen as you use it. It will respond to light, as well as the oils and moisture in your hands, which makes the leather completely unique to the owner. It's a style that only gets more beautiful over time. You will drool over the evolution of this unique leather.
► SCRATCHES ARE NOT DEFECTS.
Scratches are inevitable due to the character of the leather. It is part of the whole evolutionary journey of this kind of leather pieces, and they will fade over time. I will take extreme care when handling and shipping, but it's NOT expected to arrive at your doorstep with waxy coating in a perfect state.
► PINK, MINT, LEMON & LAVENDER ARE MADE & TANNED IN ITALY.
- Smells slightly earthy with a bit sweet.
- Different batches have different wax thicknesses.
- Visible wax patterns and traces.
- More prone to scratches.
- Higher cost of production/crafting, and frequently out of stock.
The reason is that these leathers are made and tanned in Italy, using a more natural and delicate process, without the application of strong chemicals trying to achieve a uniform finish.
► MY TEST.
Carried the Ladybug key organizer daily for 1 month, and still maintained about 50% of the waxy layer, and the wax remained in areas with less contact.
BLACK, BEIGE & TAN COLLECTION
For the rest of our designs (colors of beige, caviar, tan), the leather used is vegetable-tanned. An old artisan process based on the use of natural tannins that are found in trees and vegetables to produce long-lasting distinguishable leather that retains inherent features and has a rich depth of color. It is similar to our waxy ones, but a version without a wax layer.
Color variation is inevitable with vegetable-tanned leather, as there are no synthetic chemicals used in this process to control consistency. After years of working with leather, it is something we have grown to appreciate and value highly.
Vegetable-tanned leather will continue to evolve through time. It will respond to light, as well as the oils and moisture in your hands, which means your product will age beautifully as the color darkens, and the leather develops a unique patina through use.
► STAINS ON BEIGE LEATHER
Compared to chrome-tanned leather, vegetable-tanned leather is higher quality leather that has not undergone much chemical treatment and is, therefore, very prone to stains, especially in the early stages of use. However, this is not a defect of the leather. The resistance to stains and abrasion will develop gradually over the course of use. The longer it is used, the stronger it will be.
